How to Skin Care at Home

Skin care is important in order to remove pollutants from the surface of your skin; this is because everyday, your skin comes under constant attack from airborne impurities. A facial is one way in which you can remove these pollutants from your skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft, and pliable and more importantly, clean. However, a lot of women do not have the time or the funds to be able to attend a salon in order to receive a professional facial. Thankfully, there are now a number of quality face care products available in your local pharmacy or supermarket. These items include a cleanser for your face, a face mask, a toner, an exfoliating scrub and finally, a moisturizer.

Cleansing and Exfoliating
Cleansers are designed to keep the pores in your skin clear and clean from such contaminants as grease and dirt. The come in two varieties, non-lather and lathering. Lathering facial cleaners come in the form of a bar or liquid and they are designed to clean deep within the pores, and this helps to prevent spots. Lather free cleansers work much in the same way, except that they do not produce any lather and are therefore more suited to people with sensitive skin.

Another important aspect of facial skin care is to make sure that you exfoliate your skin regularly. Exfoliating removes dead and damaged skin cells, and this has the affect of making your skin feel smooth and soft to the touch.

A face mask should be applied once you have rid your skin of all the contaminants and dead skin cells. There are many different types of face mask and these include ones that will moisturize dry skin, as well mud packs which are perfect for people who have greasy skin because they remove the oily ingredients from the skin.

A toner is often overlooked by a lot of people when they start a skin care program and this because, they are under the impression that the toner will cause their skin to dry out. This is not the case however, and toners can be quite useful in removing the by-products that are sometimes left behind when you use a facial cleanser.

To finish your home facial routine, you should apply a moisturizer, usually in the form of a cream. People with oily skin can also by moisturizers that are non-oil based so that those with oily skin can apply the moisturizer with confidence.
